The Working Committee selected by the Residents’ Assembly (RA-WCom) has vacated its temporary office in Kailash, an educational youth residency under SAIIER, after the Funds and Assets Management Committee constituted by the Governing Board (GB-FAMC) instructed the Kailash caretakers and residents to hand over the building to the Housing Service by the end of May. On February 20th, Shakuntala Patel passed away at her residence in Swayam. She was 78 years old. Shakuntala came to Pondicherry and Auroville in the early 1970s and spent many years here.

Gildo Maria Pivetta left his body on April 5th, in Belgium, surrounded by his wife and children. Gildo (most people know him as Guido) had been quite unwell lately and left Auroville in March 2019 for Belgium where it was found that a terminal cancer had rapidly spread throughout the body.

On February 11, Devayani (Augusta) Martizi, Italian, left her body in Italy at the age of 72. Devayani came to Auroville from Findhorn in 2010 and became an Aurovilian resident in August 2011.

Auroville’s Dustudio / BuildAur, in collaboration with three other organizations, has won a bid to facilitate the process of designing and building 250,000 ‘social’ houses in Gujarat.
