The popular Auroville Bakery opened a new branch at the Town Hall on July 11. It comprises a café as well as a bakery outlet where people can purchase their favourite bakery goodies as well as pick up bread and other bakery orders.

Daniel Emdin first came to live in Auroville in 1977, after a career as a radio journalist and an art dealer in Paris and as a pizzeria manager in Italy.

When Aurelec first started back in the early 1980s, it had no catering facility, only a small kerosene stove on which the cleaning lady brewed tea and coffee for the pioneer staff working there.
