Professional dancers

I first met Astad Deboo at an International Dance Competition in Paris. Impressed by his performance, I invited him to Auroville to perform at the Sri Aurobindo Auditorium.

From March 9th-11th, Auroville celebrated its ninth edition of this annual festival. Professional dancers from Argentina and Europe were invited to teach the dancing technique to the enthusiastic Tangueros in the community.

What struck me most about Krishna Kumar was his intensity: in dance, as singer in his band Temple Rock, and as a teacher of dance and Carnatic music.

In conversation, the brothers are a force of high energy and passion for their craft. They finish each other’s sentences, spark each other into tangents and backstories, and articulate each other’s feelings.
