The August 2025 Newsletter of the Matrimandir highlights the work done in the Garden of Bliss, where the five bowl-shaped fountains are being illuminated, and the work for manifesting the Garden of Youth is underway.

The Auroville Electrical Service informed the community that the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) has recently changed Auroville’s high tension connection tariff from the existing IIA tariff (meant for places of worship and educational institutions) into tariff V (General Purpose) because Auroville’s service connection has a mixed load.

“Compared to many villages in Tamil Nadu, Alankuppam is well-off,” says Moris from Auroville’s Village Action (AVAG), pointing at its clean, pothole-free roads.

Since about 1975, Auroville can boast of its own electricity department. Started in a corner of Matrimandir’s workshop, it grew into the Auroville Electrical Service.
