In memoriam - Victor Plotnikov

Victor Plotnikov

Victor Plotnikov was born in 1954 and grew up in Moscow, Russia. Since 1993 he had been living in Certitude, with his wife Galina. His son Nikita was born in 1998 in Auroville and all three lived as a family till his last day.

In memoriam – Aurienne

Aurienne

Aurienne Fator passed away on September 1st in the USA because of a stroke. Aurienne was born in Auroville on Dec 29, 1971 and was given her name by The Mother.

Community gathering

On July 6th, a community gathering and potluck dinner took place at the Certitude sportsground. The event was organized by the RA-WCom and the Auroville Council.

The land exchange debate

Land exchange is very much in the news at present, with Auroville land being exchanged for privately-owned land in AuroOrchard and mooted as a possibility in places like Forecomers and Pebble Garden.

Land purchase

Two plots of lands of in total 2.2 acres, north of Certitude and bordering Prarthna community, have been bought at a cost of more than 1.77 crore per acre, resulting in a steep increase in land purchase price

One Saturday morning in November 2017, a bunch of Auroville youth hanging out in the Solar Kitchen parking lot had the ‘wild idea’ to clean-up some of the ever-increasing amounts of rubbish in Auroville.

Navoditte (Norman Thomas) came to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in 1967 with his wife, Alice, and in February, 1968 attended the inauguration of Auroville.

In memoriam - Ingo H.W. Torp

Ingo Torp

On January 7th, Ingo H.W. Torp left his body at the age of 77 in Santé, after staying two days in the ICU in the Pondicherry Institute of medical Sciences.

Land purchase problems

The ownership of a recently bought eight-acre plot of land on the tar road between Certitude and Edayanachavady, for which negotiations have been going on for almost three years, is in dispute and Auroville has been denied possession of the land.
