Sumitra passed away in the morning of Saturday 12 August at Jipmer hospital due to chronic health issues. She was 54. Sumitra hailed from a Gandhian family of Thengampudur, Nagercoil district.

On August 8th, long-term Canadian Aurovilian Janet Fearn quietly and peacefully slipped away from her severely emaciated body after weeks of gently fading during which loving contact with family members and friends always remained.

In memoriam - Subash (M.S. Subash Chandra)

On February 1, 2020, Subash (M.S. Subash Chandra) passed away in the Mahalakshmi Home. He had just become 74 and had been battling Parkinson’s disease since several years.

The experience of long term volunteers

Volunteers and young Aurovilians work together at the Joy of Impermanence project

Auroville receives a minimum of 300 volunteers per year from more than 30 nationalities and this number is increasing every year. An official volunteer (registered with Savi) works at least 24 hours per week in one occupation from 120 work positions available in Auroville.

Walk of Hope

On the initiative of the Auroville units Restorative Auroville, Prisma, Auroville Village Action and Aikyam School, Auroville hosted a Walk of Hope for Peace and Human Unity to spread the message of oneness, inclusion and respect among Aurovilians and the village communities around Auroville on January 28th and 29th.
