Issue Nº326 – In Memoriam
Elvira Salamanca 🔗
Elvira, a Spanish Aurovilian from Catalonia, who lived with her partner Jean-François Audic in Pitchandikulam, passed away in Spain in the morning of Tuesday 9 August after a struggle with cancer. She was 71 years old.
Elvira had joined Auroville in 2001. She was known as a sweet and lovable person, whose deep and often poignant portraits of people from all over the world, and particularly of Native Indians, were remarkable. She also gave classes in Spanish and flamenco dance, and worked as a researcher in Pitchandikulam. Due to family reasons she had to share her time between Auroville and Spain.
Sri Aurobindo’s poem “Is this the end?” was shared by Jean-François.
